Aircraft Carriers
Capital ships around which battle groups are formed.  Capable of fleet air defence, anti-ship and anti-submarine operations with the air group embarked.  Designated CV or CVN for nuclear propulsion.  Sizes range from the 98,000 tons Theodore Roosevelt class to 11,500 tons.  Air groups can consist of between 20 and 70 aircraft, depending on the size of the aircraft carrier.
