Gurudev Param Pujya Shri Kudalkar Maharaj
Maruti Tukaram Kudalkar was born on the 12th December 1932, in the district of Sawantwadi, Maharashtra, India. The astrologers predicted that either one of the parent or the baby himself would soon passed away. Fate had it that his mother died some twenty days after his birth.
From his childhood he was not only mischievous ( Lord Krishna was the same) but also had developed a reverence for Lord Dattatreya and a quest for understanding non-duality. At the tender age of 13, he had read twelve books of Swami Vivekananda. In 1952, he married Sakuntala, who gave birth to two sons and one daughter. At work in the Government Engineering department, he was the Union Leader and one of his major characteristics was his fearlessness and a strong sense of justice.
His encounter with Shree Baba Maharaj Manvatkar, his to-be-Guru, was when he brought his wife to him for diabetic treatment. He realised at once that this was the holy man he was looking for, to guide him through his spiritual evolution. In 1970, he took deeksha (initiation) from Baba Maharaj, and he carried out his sadhana with such a zeal, that within six months he had been able to open the seventh chakra. He followed his Guru's advice and orders with complete faith, and with time was taught the various techniques of the mantras, tantras and yantras. In 1993, Sakuntala was called to the Heavenly abode. After having successfully passed the tests of faith and obedience, he was invested as a Guru in 1995 and was given the name Param Pujya Ayurvedacharya Kudalkar Maharaj. He is fifth in Lord Dattatreya Parampara.
His sadhakas grew in numbers both in India and abroad. He travelled throughout most of the European countries and had given deekshas to many sadhakas in Germany. He has a special affinity for Mauritius which he regularly visits for past eleven years. The sadhakas in Mauritius revere Gurudev very much, for all of them have been blessed in one way or the other. Gurudev knows the feelings of his sadhakas and is always with them wherever they are and does provide the ultimate support in case of difficulties. His expertise in Ayurvedic medicine has given relief to many of the ailments of his sadhakas.
During his first visits to Mauritius he has been preaching love and unity among the different Marathi associations and his fervent wish is to bring the large hindu family and ultimately, the whole Mauritian nation, to work together for a better Mauritius.
