Pledges of initiation
Philosophy of yogic meditation
1.Spare a minimum of
half an hour for mantra- recitation or meditation daily in the morning and in
the afternoon as well.
2.Observe one-day fasting weekly on adequate fruits, juice or milk. Liquid food is acceptable for the first few fasting-days in specific cases. Avoid all cooked food including oil, salt and spices either from outside. Home-made meal is more appropriate and apt to be holistic specially to end fasting
when a light one
is recommended after sunset
3.No meat or fish eating is allowed specially on fasting days. Reduce non-vegetarian food to once weekly and gradually to once monthly to bridle meat-eating habit.
It is notable
that vegetarian food is the base of holistic health and the spiritual journey.
4.Similarly no perverse act or alcoholic drink is accepted on and beyond fasting days when silence or tranquillity is cherished.
Abstain from
such a disruptive habit as far as possible to enjoy good health and peaceful
collective life.
5.Avoid black or dark colours and heavy clothes on all prayer-sessions.
White or
off-white and loose dresses are suitable and recommended for spiritual
practices.
6.Sit separately
without touching each other and preferably cross-legged with erect spine for
meditation or mantra-yoga.
7.Avoid all sorts of
direct or indirect violence in speech, behaviour, action or other personal
indulgence.
8.Observe harmonious
silence as much as possible and allow the expansion of graceful awareness all
around.
9.Avoid lust, anger, fear and other disturbing emotions to enjoy harmonious or serene composure and the divine truth itself.
10.Always enjoy
moments of happiness, joviality and satisfaction and
grasp it whenever it comes across
your daily life.
11.Keep your
conscience clear as far as morality and ethics are concerned.
12.Be a responsible
person in the society and fulfil your duties with honesty and dedication.
13.Be mindful not to disturb others harmony, aspiration and privacy. On the other hand take maximum advantage of your divine body to improve the totality of your being
without
forgetting the
your
inner self and
ponder on the inner being of
the people around
you.
14.Respect
life-element within and beyond all human beings and consider all as members of
a same global family.
15.Don't miss the
opportunity to really help needy people in whichever way you find it possible.
16.Rest satisfied with your share of happiness, luck and well-being and know that satisfaction is not found in multiplicity of successes
or in amassing all
the wealth of the world but in accepting the limit of your own capacity and
ability.
17.Understand that life is an individual experience of either personal or collective path. So allow and help personal unfoldment at every-one's pace.
First of all
accept your own pace of progression without comparing yourself with others.
18.Everything and every one of us is part of nature and it is not wise to spoil its beauty or other expression.
Better enrich it's
growth and blossoming.
19.Regarding death as a sure event in one's life-journey, consider that Atman or emergence of life
is a matter
of supreme importance and every thing else should occupy a secondary place.
20.Admire deeply and lodge in harmonious wisdom of pure celibacy along with other accessible beauties of life as they help to restore life-force and grace which is the expression of the divine. Keep away from interfering in ugliness or negative aspects of life;
rather give a
hand to change them whenever and wherever possible.
21.Make each day a masterpiece and allow this to happen in everyone's life
as it delivers the
beauty and greatness of life
22.Accept the fact that the same cosmic energy is behind all existence, man or manes, recluses or householders, fools or false persons, able or disabled persons, plants or planets, flies or flowers, birds or animals etc. as they are all dependent to the same life-force known as Param-Atman or God.
23.Be mindful of the fact that love, compassion, ever-freshness
and ever-green
creative attitude is the way of self-realization.
24.Self-realization is the consciousness of living like a flower of the entire life-force
which is sustaining
one and all life-particles all around the universe. Click on the salutation posture to view the next page. |
