Being one of the most prestigious secondary schools in Mauritius, the
mere utter of the name RCPL arises enthusiasm and very often admiration.
The first stone of what would later on become this prestigiuos institution
was laid at Cassis by Princess Margaret during her first visit to Mauritius
in 1956.
The chosen site for the building was an ideal place since the neighbourhood
was a popular one, close to the Robert Edouard Hart Garden and Fort
William.
Ever since the college opened its doors, it embarked upon the task
of forming the leaders of tomorrow and it counts many of the personalities
who have played vital roles in the history of our country as former
students.
With a student population of about 800 boys, the yearly intake sums
up to 120, the boys being among the best students having completed their
primary education. The reputation of the college is confirmed with the
brillant results of the SC and HSC students. Furthermore, RCPL contributes
its stone to the lot of laureates.
