There are two school and one demonstration Chemistry Laboratories at the RCPL. They are more or less well-equipped.

In the Chemistry department, emphasis is laid on the practical part. As far as possible, the students learn by enquiry and discovery. Regular demonstrations are given in the lower forms. From Form IV onward, the students have regular weekly practical sessions. They are trained to develop efficiently their manipulative skills and to handle safely chemicals, including hazardous ones. Maximum precautions are taken to ensure the safety of one and all. The students are also trained to be objective and to process information systematically, to deduce logically, to be crucial and reflective, to design, to plan and to improve simple experiments as well as simple projects.

Thus the students can become skillful, capable, confident, honest, creative and can acquire a scientific methodology.

The 1999 results at RCPL showed that at SC Level, 40 out of 98 got an A and the overall rate of success was 93.9%. At the HSC Level, 27 out of 103 got an A and the rate of success was 82.5%.

The main lab also caters for external HSC students who have left college or whose college do not have practical facilities. Recruitments are made twice yearly in December and in May. Interested students may contact the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research.

The RCPL is an institution with good infrastructure and adequate resources. The administration is efficient and gives clear and firm guidance. Many teachers are kind, understanding, affectionate, dedicated, qualified and professional educators. They make a balance between formal and informal education in order to cause an all round development of the child. They pay attention not only to the intellectual, cultural and physical blossoming, but also to the social, moral and emotional blooming of the student.

As discipline also prevails, the majority of the students are friendly, unselfish, conscientious and responsible. Thus the atmosphere is conducing to academic learning and to a sound overall formation of the child.

The result is that many students achieve academic excellence and become capable, honest and responsible citizens and leaders of to-morrow.
