A few of the recently heard incidents narrated by devotees about Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar are given here.

We all know that Yogi Ramsuratkumar was subjected to brutal ill treatment by ruffians in the early days of his stay at Tiruvannamalai. We also know that He never attempted to retaliate or abuse them in any manner. How did He face these onslaughts?

Sri G. was editor of a journal. The press for printing it was giving him endless trouble and therefore he was often in a state of anxiety. Once he went to see Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar in such a state and sat before him after prostration. He did not narrate any of his woes. Bhagavan sat silent for a while and then said "Once this beggar was walking on the road when some people caught hold of him and tied up his hands. Then they beat him on the mouth with a stick." Bhagavan said, though he was in agony, there was only Ananda inside!

Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar was particular that the prasad given to each person should be consumed by him alone. He was happy if the prasad was immediately taken right in front of him. I have seen him raise His hands in blessing whenever any devotee did this. Discarding the prasad, without paying the respect and devotion that it deserved might lead to bad consequences. A devotee narrated a story told by Guruji Shri Shri Mulaleedhara Swamigal and telecast by the "Podigai" channel recently.

A middle aged man had come to Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram out of mere curiosity. When he was leaving, he saw an attendant run to him and tell him that Bhagavan was calling him. The man said, "It can not be me! Bhagavan does not know me, you are mistaken." He would have proceeded some more steps to the gate when again the attendant came running and said Bhagavan was calling only him. So the reluctant man approached Bhagavan who gave him a plantain with the words, "My Father blesses you." The man took the plantain and on his way out thought, "Why should Swamiji's give the plantain to me?" and gave it away to somebody and forgot the incident.

A few months later he fell seriously ill. With his condition deteriorating, he remembered the incident and narrated it to a relative who was aware of Bhagavan and His work. The relative was deeply shocked that this man so casually threw away the priceless blessing in the form of the plantain, which had obviously been given to ward off just such an illness!

Here is another facet of Bhagavan's knowledge of Trilaka (Past, Present and Future).

A devotee of Bhagavan in Tiruvannamalai had a relative working in a Government organisation at Poone. The relative had come to visit Tiruvannamalai. At Poone the job prospects appeared bad because, this person, though he was due for promotion was in danger of being superseded owing to other conditions. He was in a very unhappy frame of mind and narrated his woes to his friend who suggested that they have darshan of Bhagavan who would be able to solve his problem.

They were on their way to Bhagavan's Sannadhi street abode when the relative's attention was caught by a large cinema poster advertising a Hindi film called "Gurbani". He was walking staring at it when he bumped into an older man who was knocked down by the impact. The man stood frozen, shocked that he should have inadvertently caused some one's fall. His host ran to the fallen man, recognising Yogi Ramsuratkumar, and was all attention and help. Bhagavan accepted the apologies of the relative and said he would get his promotion when he got back to Poone!

The wonder is that neither of them had mentioned the problem to Bhagavan, in fact they had not even formally met!

Sure enough when he got back to Poone his order for promotion came.

Most of us are aware that Bhagavan had reached the highest spiritual stage, even though he did not overtly display any siddhis. Even when miraculous events occurred he would invariably say placidly "It is Father; Father has done it." Knowing His complete identity with "Father" we have no doubts about how "Gather" came to direct events. Nevertheless he did not display any siddhis.

A rare occasion when such an overt miracle was performed was narrated recently.

A family, which was undergoing a great deal of stress and anxiety had their darshan of Bhagavan at the Arunacheleshvar temple. Bhagavan kindly blessed them and gave them leave but they would not go unless Bhagavan gave them Vibhuti as prasad. Bhagavan said that he does not have any vibhuti and in any case he was not in the habit of distributing it. He directed them to go to the Arunachaleshvar temple and obtain it. Unfortunately the temple was closed for the day and so back they came to Bhagavan and continued to insist pathetically that He give vibhuti.

A look of anger and disgust suffusing his face, He produced some vibhuti out of His hand and gave it to them; and they went away happily.

Later he remarked, "This beggar has done something that Father does not like."

Here is a story that connects the mundane and the sublime.

Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar was visiting Tapovanam. In those days it is reported that he would spend hours sitting near the goshala and singing "Om Sri Ram Jaya Ram Jaya Jaya Ram". Most of the devotees of Sri Gnananandagiri Swamigal had great respect and regard for Him and did not disturb him.

A devotee of Sri Gnanananda Giri Swami requested the Swami to accept "Biksha" at her home. Sri Gnanananda Giri Swami gave her an unripe mango and asked her to prepare "mango rice" and said he would come to have Biksha. The lady went home and prepared dishes with great devotion including "mango rice" and awaited the arrival of the Swami. A great deal of time passed with no sign of the Swami. Without offering biksha none could eat at home. The lady waited and waited and she sent one person after another to send word to the Swami but the messengers sat mesmerised at the Swami's feet and did not return.

When the afternoon had nearly ended Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar turned up at the lady's house and asked her whether He could have something to eat. The lady very happily invited Him and spread before Him the dishes that she had so lovingly prepared. Bhagavan left after the biksha.

The lady devotee then hurried to the Tapovanam Ashram to narrate the events to Swami Gnanananda Giri and gently reproach him for not coming to accept the Biksha.

When she prostrated before the Swami, he said, "The mango rice was very good."

What was this magic? The person who consumed the biksha was different from the person passing this appreciative remark! She recollected Swami's earlier proclamation that all Jnanis are one. Only the name and form varied and realised that though the biksha was apparently given to Yogi Ramsuratkumar it was consumed by the Divine which is one and indivisible.

Nous savons tous que Yogi Ramsuratkumar a, dans les premiers jours de son séjour à Tiruvannamalai, été sujet aux mauvais traitements de brutes. Nous savons aussi qu'il n'a jamais cherché à riposter ou à les maltraiter de quelque manière que ce soit. Comment a-t-Il fait face à ces attaques ?

Sri G. était l'éditeur d'un journal. La presse d'imprimerie lui donnait des problèmes sans fin et il était donc souvent dans l'anxiété. Il vit un jour voir Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar dans un tel état et il s'assit devant lui après s'être prosterné. Il ne raconta aucun de ses malheurs. Bhagavan resta assis silencieusement pendant un moment, puis Il dit : "Un jour ce mendiant marchait sur la route quand des gens s'emparèrent de lui et lui lièrent les mains. Ils le battirent sur la bouche avec un bâton." Bhagavan dit que, bien qu'il fût au supplice, à l'intérieur ça n'était qu'Ananda !

Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar était pointilleux sur le fait que le prasad donné à quelqu'un devait être consommé par cette seule personne. Il était heureux quand le prasad était immédiatement mangé en face de lui. Je l'ai vu lever les mains en bénédiction à chaque fois qu'un fidèle faisait cela. Se débarrasser du prasad sans avoir le respect ni la dévotion qu'il méritait pouvait avoir de mauvaises conséquences. Un fidèle raconta une histoire dit par Guruji Shri Shri Muladhira Swamigal et passée à la télévision récemment sur la chaîne "Podigai".

Un homme d'âge moyen était venu au Yogi Ramsuratkumar Ashram par simple curiosité. Alors qu'il s'en allait, il vit un serviteur courir vers lui et lui dire que Bhagavan le demandait. L'homme dit : "Ca ne peut pas être moi ! Bhagavan ne me connait pas, vous vous trompez." Il continua à marcher quand, de nouveau, le serviteur arriva encourant et lui dit que Bhagavan le demandait, et lui seulement. Alors l'homme, hésitant, s'approcha de Bhagavan qui lui donna une banane avec les paroles : "Mon Père vous bénit." L'homme prit la banane et pensa, sur son chemin : "Pourquoi Swamiji me donnerait une banane ?" et il la donna à quelqu'un et oublia l'épisode.

Quelques mois plus tard il tomba gravement malade. Son état s'aggravant, il se rappela l'incident et il le raconta à un parent qui avait connaissance de Bhagavan et de Son travail. Le parent fur profondément choqué que cet homme se soit débarrassé d'une manière aussi indifférente de cette bénédiction sans prix sous forme de la banane qui avait été évidemment donnée précisément pour écarter une telle maladie !

Voici un autre aspect de la connaissance qu'avait Bhagavan de Triloka (Passé, Présent et Avenir).

Un fidèle de Bhagavan à Tiruvannamalai avait un ami qui travaillait dans une organisation gouvernementale à Pune. Cet ami était venu rendre une visite à Tiruvannamalai. A Pune, les perspectives d'emploi semblaient mauvaises parce que cette personne, bien qu'elle devait avoir une promotion, pouvait être devancée pour d'autres raisons. Elle était dans un très mauvais état d'esprit et elle racontait ses malheurs à son ami qui lui suggéra d'avoir ensemble le darshan de Bhagavan qui pourrait résoudre son problème.

Ils se rendaient à la demeure de Bhagavan Sannadhi street, lorsque l'attention de l'ami fut happée par une grande affiche de cinéma qui faisait la promotion d'un film hindi appelé "Garbani". Il marchait en la regardant quand il heurta un homme âgé qui fut renversé sous le choc. L'homme fut cloué sur place, bouleversé d'avoir put causer la chute de quelqu'un par inadvertance. Son hôte courut vers l'homme qui était tombé, reconnaissant Yogi Ramsuratkumar, et il fut plein d'attention et d'aide. Bhagavan accepta les excuses de l'ami et dit qu'il obtiendrait sa promotion quand il retournerait à Pune !

Le prodige est qu'aucun d'entre eux n'avait fait part du problème à Bhagavan. Ils ne s'étaient même pas rencontrés 'officiellement'.

Bien sur son ordre de promotion arriva quand il fut de retour à Pune.

La plupart d'entre nous avons conscience que Bhagavan avait atteint le plus haut niveau spirituel, même s'il ne faisait montre d'aucune siddhi. Même lorsque des événements miraculeux se produisant, il disait invariablement et placidement : "C'est Père, Père a fait cela.". Connaissant son identité complète avec "Père", nous n'avons aucun doute sur la manière dont "Père" en venait à diriger les événements. Néanmoins il ne faisait montre d'aucune siddhi.

Une occasion rare où un tel miracle patent a été accompli a été raconté récemment.

Une famille qui était en train de passer par pas mal de stress et d'anxiété avaient le darshan de Bhagavan au temple d'Arunachaleshvar. Bhagavan les bénit gentiment et leur donna congé, mais il ne voulurent pas partir tant que Bhagavan ne leur donnât pas de la vibhuti comme prasad. Bhagavan leur dit qu'il n'avait pas de vibhuti et qu'en aucun cas il n'avait l'habitude d'en distribuer. Il leur dit d'aller en chercher au temple d'Arunachaleshvar. Malheureusement le temple était fermé pour la journée. Aussi revinrent-ils vers Bhagavan et continuèrent d'insister pathétiquement pour qu'Il leur donne de la vibhuti.

Avec un air de colère et de dégoût, Il produisit de la vibhuti à partir de Sa main et la leur donna; et ils s'en allèrent heureux.

Il remarqua plus tard : "Ce mendiant a fait quelque chose que Père n'aime pas."

Voici une histoire qui relie le mondain et le sublime.

Sri Gnanananda Giri lui donna une mangue qui n'était pas mure et lui demanda de préparer du "riz à la mangue" et il lui dit qu'il viendrait recevoir la Biksha. La dame alla chez elle et prépara les plats avec une grande dévotion, y compris du "riz à la mangue", et elle attendit l'arrivée du Swami. Beaucoup de temps s'écoula sans le moindre signe du Swami. Sans avoir offert la biksha, personne ne pouvait manger à la maison. La dame attendit et attendit, et elle envoya une personne après l'autre pour parler au Swami mais tous les messagers s'assirent aux pieds du Swami, hypnotisés, et ils ne revinrent pas.

Alors que l'après-midi était presque terminée, Bhagavan Yogi Ramsuratkumar se présenta chez la dame et lui demanda s'Il pouvait avoir quelque chose à manger; La dame, très heureuse, L'invita et déploya devant Lui les plats qu'elle avait préparés avec tant d'amour. Bhagavan s'en alla après la biksha.

La fidèle se dépêcha alors d'aller au Tapovanam pour raconter les événements à Swami Gnanananda Giri et pour lui reprocher gentiment de n'être pas venu pour accepter la Biksha.

Alors qu'elle se prosternait devant le Swami, il dit : "Le riz à la mangue était très bon."

Quelle était cette magie ? La personne qui avait mangé la biksha était différente de la personne qui faisait cette remarque d'appréciation ! Elle se rappela de la proclamation antérieure du Swami selon laquelle tous les Jnanis sont un. Seul le nom et la forme varient, et elle pris conscience que bien que la biksha ait été apparemment donnée à Yogi Ramsuratkumar, elle avait été mangée par le Divin qui est un et indivisible.
