National Flag

The Symbolic meaning of the colours are :

RED: represents the struggle for freedom and Independence

BLUE: represents the Indian Ocean in the middle of which Mauritius is situated.

YELLOW: represents the new light of Independence shining over the Island.

GREEN: represents the Agriculture of Mauritius and its colour throughout the twelve months of the year.

Current shoulder patch - Exists in 2 variations. Black and blue background. Both currently worn. Difference due to different manufacturers.  * Small ( Beret patch) - Obsolete

Design:

The three blades of the design are the very symbol of a helicopter.

The Eagle represents the aviation wing of the 

Mauritius Police Force Helicopter Squadron.

The Map of Mauritius, the sea, the sky and the outer islands are the operating environment in which the helicopter performs.

Design:

The Crest of the National Coast Guard comprises :

A STAR and KEY, symbolizing the historic role of Mauritius as key of the Indian Ocean.

A SEXTAN, symbolic of sea-going navigation,

An ANCHOR, symbolic of seafarer, his solidarity and reality,

A SEA HORSE, symbolic of vigour, sprightliness, beauty and agility.

The upper background being green representing Mauritius as an island, rich prosperous, vibrant and protected by her marine and the lower portion being blue symbolizing the vast expanse of the Ocean surrounding.

Design:

The sun and the sea are the very symbol of Mauritius tourism industry.

Warm colours have been used to demonstrate our friendly, approachable and caring attitude.

'WE CARE' demonstrate the feeling of care. This feeling is accentuated by the two circles, a symbol of security.
