VISIT OF SHIHAN ALWYN HEATH FROM ENGLAND

Recently the Shinkyokushinkai organisation had the pleasure to welcome the Shihan Alwyn Heath(5th dan) and one of his Sempei(ni dan) who came from England.

In occurrence of his presence in Mauritius, he gave 2 training sessions precisely on Wednesdays 10th and 17th of January 2007 at the dojo of Vallee Pitot both respectively beginning at 6pm which were indeed well appreciated by the kyokushin adepts.

The 2 special sessions lasted for approximately one and a half hours each. The 2 sessions were attended by 20 to 30 members of the kyokushin and they all have benefited a lot from the training.

The training of the Shihan were mainly based on kumite basics and techniques. He put much emphasis on self-defence for street fighting as well as kumite techniques for competitions. He showed us the effectiveness of our basics movement in katas which one can apply for self defence.

Shihan also focussed on training with partners so as to apply the techniques properly. Thus allowing us to develop our focus, power and aim while being indulged in fighting.

He did lots of conditioning such as push ups, jumping and so on.

He taught us many combination techniques and gave everyone had the opportunity to try them out.

The sempei(ni-dan) who accompanied the Shihan also contributed to the trainings as she directed the girls, helping them greatly. Both the shihan and the sempei appreciated the spirit and level of the members present.

To conclude, we can say that all the members who were present those two days have certainly benefited and those new learned techniques will surely be of great use to them in the future.

Hearty thanks goes to our Sensei Aslam Jeewa who gave us the opportunity to benefit from such trainings which is also a good beginning for the Shinkyokushin Organisation for the year 2007.
