Visit of Sensei Frank Russo from Australia
The Shinkyokushinkai
organization had the pleasure to welcome amongst us a great fighter from Australia
namely Sensei Frank Russoo (3 DAN ). He landed on the 20th March 2007
and we had our training session with him on Friday 23 March 2007 at the dojo of
Vallee Pitot. The training began precisely at 6 p.m. and
Sensei Frank Russo was himself accompanied by his wife who is a blue belt. We started by a general warming up
specifically done by jumping around. Being
himself a good fighter, he put more emphasis on kumite
techniques, without forgetting to mention that Sensei Frank Russo was ranked
4th in the first World Cup of 1997. He
showed us the basis importance of applying hips movement to each of our
techniques as while doing so, our punch or whichever techniques applied become
more powerful. We learned a lot through his own way of fighting knock down. He made us work on our speed of shifting in a
kumite. We had
the opportunity to work our techniques more thoroughly as each one had a
partner to train with, thus doing them more accurately. He made us do different combinations of
techniques and work on our footwork.
Afterwards, all the black and brown belts along with Sensei Frank,
fought for one minute. The aim behind
this was to make the fighters apply their techniques well. Each of them had the opportunity to fight for
one whole minute with Sensei Frank.
Training ended at 8.00 p.m. Frank
Russo was genuinely impressed by the level of our kyokushinkai
members and he showed his appraisal.
For him, we should find fun in training as when we
will find fun only then, we well learn faster.
Each member present that day was really satisfied as they learnt new
things. Hearty thanks goes to our Sensei
Aslum Jeewa who keeps on
giving us opportunities to beneficiate from such trainings!
