The East

The gorgeous but underdeveloped east coast of Mauritius, with kilometers of pristine beaches, azure oceans, and hotels and resorts favored by royalty and celebrities, is the epitome of postcard Mauritius. In fact, one of the most famous postcard views is of the island playground, Île aux Cerfs, with its white sandbars reaching their tendrils into blue waters. The east coast is also the windiest, providing a refreshing onshore breeze in the summer and billowing sails for windsurfers and sailors in the winter.
