Tarenna cymosa (Bois de rat).

 They are small trees or shrubs of 3-9 m of height.  The trunk is 4-25 cm in diameter.   Branches are highly arched.  Small branches are grey or white-grey, subangular.  Young leaves are not flattened. The leaf blades of adults are elliptical 4-18 x 2-11 cm more or less obtuse at the top, largely cuneiform at the base and decurrent on the petiole, totally hard. The petiole 0.6-2.5 cm is hairless.  Stipules (1.5 cm) are fused at the base in the sheath. 

  Flowers are odorant having a smell of copra oil.  Calyx have a dense pubescent, the adnate part being ovoid about 1.5 mm.  Lobes are triangular or rounded measuring 0.2-0.3 mm.  Corolla is white with dense puberulent on the exterior; the tube is about 2-4 mm, lobes 4 x 1.5-2.5 mm. Anthers 2.6-3.5 mm.  Filaments are 0.5-1.1 mm.  Fruit is ovoid-spherical 5-6 x 4-5.  Seeds are dark-red, spherical, about 3.5 mm in diameter and reticulated.
