It
is a shrub of 2-3 m of height. Leaves
blades are elliptical making 3.5-4.8 x 1.7-2.6 cm, rounded to sub-pointed at
the tip, cuneiform at the base and sometimes hard.
The petiole is about 2-3 mm. In
male flowers, the adnate part of the calyx is obconic, about 1.8 mm; the tube
is free about 1 mm with subulated lobes measuring 3-5.5 mm but never too
short. Corolla consists of a tube
of about 3 mm with oval lobes 4 x 2.5 mm.
In female flowers, the adnate part of the calyx is about 3 mm, the tube
is free about 1 mm with subulated lobes of 3 mm, corolla with tube of about 2
mm with lobes of 3.5 mm. Stigmatal
lobes are pointed.
